Songs on Taylor Swift’s “Midnights” and how they relate to Columbus, Ohio

If you’re a Swiftie, then you already know Taylor Swift released her 10th studio album, “Midnights,” last week. Even if you’re not a T.S. fan, don’t worry, it’s all too well. We’ve listened to the album and can draw some similarities between certain songs and Columbus that might catch your attention.

đŸŽ¶ Snow On The Beach (feat. Lana Del Rey)

“And it’s like snow at the beach
Weird but it was beautiful

Feels impossible
But it’s comin’ down, no sound, it’s all around
Like snow on the beach”

The references in this soft and slow song already have us thinking of wintertime at Alum Creek State Park. When the snow falls near the water, it makes for a scenic spot for a sunrise walk or hike on one of the many trails.

đŸŽ¶ Lavender Haze

“I just wanna stay
In that lavender haze”

If you want to stay in your own lavender haze, there’s a lavender farm in Plain City called Purple Plains Farm, LLC. Not only can you pick your own when it’s in season, but they also sell it with other produce at their local Plain City Farmers’ Market.

đŸŽ¶ Maroon

“No shoes, looked up
At the sky and it was maroon

so scarlet, it was maroon”

We don’t know about you, but if Columbus was a color, we think it would be scarlet for the Buckeyes. Do you agree? The comparisons in this song — calling lips, wine, cheeks, and rust so scarlet they were maroon — had us thinking of our city.

If you’ve already listened to the album, which songs stand out to you? Do any remind you of home like they did for us? Let us know.
