Whether youâre looking to add to the family for the holidays, or just wanting some extra company around your house â itâs figuratively raining cats and dogs at these local pet adoption sites. Follow along as we cat scratch the surface on where you can find a furry friend.
Meet cats like Trixie, a six-month-old short hair kitten; dogs like Muck, a two-year-old large mixed breed with high energy; or even rabbits such as Louie, an eight-month-old angora rabbit sporting an awesome hairdo. Adoption fees, which directly support Columbus Humane, range from $50+ for rabbits and pocket pets, $75-$100 for cats, and $175-$350 for dogs.

Hours: 12-2 p.m. + 6-8:30 p.m. on Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday, 1-4 p.m. on weekends
Pets: Dogs and cats
If youâre in the market for a puppy, become friends with Duke, Luke, Myrtle, or Honey, all two-month-old chihuahuas hanging out at CHA. Fees for dogs range from $150-$300 + adoption costs for cats vary from $5-$80.

There are plenty of cats to choose from with 184 total listings on the website. The website also includes labels under cats to let you know if the cat isnât friendly around dogs, or if it has become an in-house favorite of the staff, like Casanova. Fees range from $50-$100 for cats, and $150-$300 for dogs.

Gov. Mike Dewine + Ohio State Fair release long-term vision for fairgrounds

The Ohio State Fair has been a staple in Columbus since 1886, and soon the historic event could receive a touch of modernization.
Gov. Mike DeWine announced on Thursday, Dec. 8 the Expo 2050 Framework, which includes plans to overhaul many parts of the Ohio State Fairgrounds. While thereâs no timetable or estimated costs just yet, we wanted to take a closer look at whatâs to come for this 360-acre area.
Demolish 20 existing buildings such as the Bricker Building + Rhodes Center.
Renovate seven buildings including Taft Coliseum.
Construct 15 new buildings like an Agriculture Pavilion and a new entertainment center.
Redesign various entry points such as the âOHIOâ entrance to be more grand and eye catching.
