Opening
Cereal can be dessert — just ask Outta the Box, located at 1064 Country Club Rd. This local dessert shop opens as a pop-up on Saturday, April 8 with 50+ different cereal options and an assortment of toppings like chocolate sauce, hot fudge, and sour gummy worms. (The Columbus Dispatch)
Jackie O’s, an Athens-based brewery, is set to reopen its Fourth Street location on Friday, May 5 after years of renovations. These new updates include 6,000 sqft of indoor space, 30 draft taps, a two-story patio, two fire pits, and on-site parking.

Pop-Up Pickers Club is celebrating its one-year anniversary on Saturday, April 15 with 90+ local vendors at Towers Hall Courtyard at Otterbein University. The outdoor market will be open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. with vintage clothes, retro media such as movies + video games, and home decor.
Biz
Gotta Groove Records, a Cleveland-based vinyl manufacturer, announced it will expand into Columbus. The Cleveland location + Columbus location will work together to create records, with Columbus making the molds and Cleveland pressing them. (Columbus Business First)
Civic
The US Conference of Mayors is headed to Columbus, marking the first time in city history. According to estimates from Experience Columbus, the city is set to welcome 1,800 people from Friday, June 2-Monday, June 5 + net roughly $1.5 million from tourism. (Columbus Business First)

Happy Spring Break to parents + students at Columbus City Schools, which is closed today through Friday, April 14. And if you’re a parent looking to keep the kiddos occupied, check out our guide to kid-friendly activities.
History
The Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Reynoldsburg branch received a book return that was 56 years overdue. The book was “Moby Dick” + it was rented by a high school sophomore on March 7, 1967. Better late than never, we suppose.

On Friday, April 21, the Commons will kick off its 2023 season by reopening the carousel — but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Here’s what we are looking forward to most in the coming weeks:
🍳 Breakfast at the Commons
Starting Wednesday, May 3, local breakfast-style food trucks will take over the Commons. This runs 7:30-10:30 a.m. from May-October on Wednesdays.
🍻 Brews in the Bosque
The first Wednesday of each month offers the chance to sip an adult beverage, listen to live music, and hang out in a garden-like space. This starts Wednesday, May 3.
🍔 Food Truck Food Court
The return of the popular lunchtime food truck court is on Thursday, May 4 + will be open each Thursday until October.
