When it comes to these new murals in the Short North, we’re here to say it and spray it.
The Short North Summer Spray series has returned, and it brought 11 Ohio-based artists to the corner of Goodale Street and Park Street to create 10 new murals.
On display
This 10-week process began on July 8, which means seven local artists have already completed their murals:
Laney Baby, a Columbus artist who was also featured in last year’s Spray.
Anthony Pomales, a Queer Boriqua artist originally from the Bronx.

In the works
While seeing the finished product is an eye-grabbing experience, nothing compares to seeing the artists live and in action.
Juan Daza, a Columbus artist who was born in Colombia, is currently putting the finishing touches on his mural. You’ll know his work thanks to the bright colors that call back to his childhood in Colombia.
Carlos Roa, also a Colombia-born artist now residing in Columbus, will be working on his mural starting Saturday, Sept. 2. He uses bright colors to create dreamlike scenes to represent different cultures.
Niko Taylor, a Columbus-based designer and artist, will begin work on their mural Saturday, Sept. 9. Niko specializes in modern art with pops of humor to better understand our increasingly digital age.
Hassan Qureshi, a Columbus-based visual artist, is the final artist to work on the mural. He begins on Saturday, Sept. 16. Be prepared for a thought-provoking piece, as Hassan loves to push the boundaries with his work.

How to make the most of the Columbus Greek Festival
A 50-year-old Columbus tradition is back this Labor Day weekend.
The Columbus Greek Festival is Friday, Sept. 1-Monday, Sept. 4 at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 555 N. High St. Tickets are $4-$5 and good for all four days. Let’s take a closer look at what to expect.
We’re not sure what sounds better — freshly baked Baklava from Maria’s Pastry Shoppe or a made-to-order gyro with traditional toppings. Our advice is to come hungry.
Listen to the sounds of the mainland and island from the Hellenic Singers, a group that has been performing historic Greek songs since 1991. Plus, learn new dance moves from Greek Festival Folk Dancers, who you’ll recognize based on their traditional dress.
Learning can be fun, too. Take a tour of the Cathedral with guided tours every 45 minutes. Or, join hour-long cooking classes to learn how to make popular Greek dishes.
