Pro Bucks: Every player from Ohio State currently in the NFL

It’s not about always wearing scarlet and gray — it’s about representing those colors. And, these former Buckeyes are professionals when it comes to that.
Did you know there are 48 former Ohio State players in the NFL? Here are a few notable Bucks as the NFL season starts on Thursday, Sept. 7 with Kansas City vs. Detroit.
Kicking things off
Looking for an excuse to tune in to this game if you aren’t a fan of either team? Taylor Decker, offensive tackle, and Jonah Jackson, offensive guard, are both on the Detroit Lions. Decker was drafted in 2016 and Jackson was drafted in 2020.

Keeping it local
The Cincinnati Bengals are one of the hottest teams in the league this season. They are led by quarterback Joe Burrow who transferred to LSU, but earned his degree from Ohio State. Linebacker Sam Hubbard is a tried-and-true Buckeye on the Bengals roster as well.
Conversely, the Cleveland Browns have four former Bucks playing on Sundays.

Opening
Winan’s Coffee + Chocolates is opening a new location in the Short North at 611 N. High St. The popular local coffee shop plans to open in mid-November with the same menu featured at its other locations. (614now)

City officials are set to bring new zoning laws intended to streamline the development process around spring 2024. City Council members explained the new laws will modernize the process by updating 70+-year-old practices like filing variances. (The Columbus Dispatch)

A new study found Miller Lite — not Bud Light or a local brew — is the best-selling beer in Columbus. Miller reported sales rose by $220,000+, bringing the total to $3.9 million annually. Bud Light saw a $700,000+ dip, dropping sales to $3.39 million annually. (The Columbus Dispatch)
State
The state is looking to make investments in technology companies and start-ups after receiving millions in COVID relief funds. In total, $111 million will be invested, with $36 million set aside for women- and minority-owned businesses + $75 million for Ohio-based tech start-ups. (Columbus Inno)

Spotted lanternflies have reportedly invaded the city and state. These bugs feed on important crops + leave behind sooty mold, which ruins the produce for humans. If you see one in the wild, the state asks that you do two things: Report it, then stomp on it.

1) Columbus used to be where the NFL held its headquarters. From 1927-1932, the NFL occupied a building on the intersection of High and Broad Streets.
2) During the NFL’s time in Columbus, the city launched a team known as the Columbus Panhandles. This name was later changed to the Columbus Tigers, but this didn’t last long as the team folded in 1926 after little success.
