When it comes to October in Columbus, our only fear is missing out.
That’s why we are spending our weekend in Olde Towne East from Saturday, Oct. 14-Sunday, Oct. 15 along Bryden Road. OTE Arts, a local nonprofit, is hosting a free Arts Weekend showcasing 80+ local artists and vendors. Here’s what you need to know:
Saturday’s slate
Local sculptor Marsha Mack will host an opening reception of her gallery “Salty/Sweet” from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Her exhibit features imported Asian candies and foods, each being symbolic for the happiness they brought her at one time. Additionally, Dada Matcha, a Columbus-based matcha bar, will be on-site with themed drinks.
At the same time, 700 Bryden is hosting 700 Studio Nights. This monthly event invites the community to explore the third-floor studio to meet artists and learn about their processes.

Sunday’s schedule
If you’re just looking for the vendors, Sunday is your day to stop by from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. This is where you’ll find a vendor market, food trucks, live music, costume contests, and a trick-or-treat route for candy. We recommend taking a screenshot of this handy map so you can keep it close by this weekend.
Keep the seasonal vibes going by stopping at The Mansion, located at 731 E. Broad St., for a spooky art gallery and spoken word performance from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This gallery by Madeline Buanno is dubbed “Just A Little Ugly,” as it features illogical, strange, and far out creations. Viewers beware.
