Book a getaway to The Buckeye Box at Hocking Hills

If you’re looking for a getaway in nature that feels just like home — The Buckeye Box might be the perfect spot.
The Hocking Hills shipping container cabin is an idea that was brought to life by former Buckeyes wide receiver Chris Fields. Originally from Painesville, OH, Fields spent much of his childhood out in nature — fishing, hiking, camping, and going out on the pontoon boat. His love for nature partnered with a Hocking Hills experience with his wife sparked the cabin idea.
“During the pandemic, my wife and I visited Hocking Hills, and we were hiking and just fell in love,” Fields said. “It brought me back to my childhood, so I decided to build a cabin down there.”

The Buckeye Box sits on five acres and can fit up to eight guests with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Fields put a special focus on the decor, too.
“I think it’s awesome because it’s an Ohio-inspired cabin.” said Fields. “It has very unique, custom features, and it has an 18-ft Ohio mural in the back.”
Here are other amenities you can expect in the industrial-style cabin:
Close proximity to popular hiking areas like Old Man’s Cave and Cedar Falls
A six-person hot tub and patio furniture
A fireplace and fire pit
Cornhole and hammocks coming in the spring
Grocery delivery
TV and WiFi

The passion project has an even deeper meaning for Fields, as it’s dedicated to his brother James who died from brain cancer last year after a 10-year battle.
“I wanted to keep his legacy alive, so we named this property “The James” in his honor,” Fields explained.
Booking is now available at the eco-friendly cabin through Airbnb, Vrbo, or directly on its website, which is more cost-saving.
