A Message From Our Team
We have a goal to raise $2,500 for CBUStoday over the next nine days. Support our positive, hyper-local approach to journalism with a donation — this is the one time a year we’ll ask you for contributions. We love you, Columbus.

💭 Ask and you shall (locally) receive
CBUStoday COSI Science Fest

If you’re not from Columbus, ask a question. If you’re from Columbus, answer a question.

We posted that prompt on CBUStoday’s Instagram, and folks from near and far didn’t disappoint. Whether it was our friends down in Texas, or newcomers looking to make a splash — these are the top local answers to FAQs from out-of-towners.

“Just moved here from the UK with my husband and two boys — where shall we visit?” — @kellwroe

With 60+ answers, places like COSI, Franklin Park Conservatory, and the Columbus Clippers became a common response from locals, including us.

“Best local coffee shop? And best running trail?” — @cassidy.hinton

Through 40+ answers, the Olentangy Trail was the front runner for best running trail in Columbus. The best coffee shop received answers like Stauf’s Coffee Roasters, Upper Cup, Fox in the Snow, and Parable.

“What’s the best place to live? I’m talking great schools, parks, activities? (must be within 25 minutes of downtown)” — @thepreferredone

This one racked up 40+ answers, and the top response was a combination of Westerville, New Albany, and Gahanna. Other suburbs mentioned are Bexley, Clintonville, and Dublin.

“Why is Ohio “the Midwest”?!” — @nikkikayhoward

This is based on early settlers first establishing America on the east coast. Ohio was apart of the Northwestern Ordinance Territory, which was the beginning of a large western expansion. At that time, Ohio was one of the many middle points between the known east coast, and unknown west coast.

OSU vs Iowa

“When’s the best time to visit CBUS?” — @SATXtoday

Say hello to our good friends in Texas. And the top recommendation for vising CBUS was the fall season, for football, perfect weather, and outdoor festivals.

“Cleveland or Cincinnati?” — @kyle__mahaffey

“Columbus,” wrote @its.raymah, receiving nearly 100 likes on the comment. We agree and support this clap back.

Operator, could you help us place a call?

That’s just one of the many iconic Jim Croce songs you’ll be singing if you snag tickets to see his son, A.J. Croce, when he visits CBUS. The concert was just announced for Sunday, Sept. 8 at Southern Theatre where A.J. plans to play hits by his father.

“We’ll be playing songs representative from all three albums, and also some songs the audience might not know from more obscure artists that I realized connected me and my father,” A.J. said in a release. “It was those songs that eventually led me to do this show in the first place.”

This show continues the 50th anniversary tour for A.J., which actually started in 2023. But, due to popular demand, the show has continued into 2024 with more concerts across the country.
