Land-Grant’s Extension in Franklinton is officially open, and City Editor Hanna hit the scene for a sneak peek. Here’s what to expect.

Location and hours

The brand-new spot is at 458 Chapel Alley on Land-Grant’s campus within the Gravity Experience Park. The best part? You can bring your drinks back and forth between LG’s beer garden and the Extension.

Hanna had no issues finding parking on side streets, and using the Park Columbus to pay the hourly rates.

The bar is open:
  • Monday-Wednesday, 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
  • Saturday, 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.
  • Sunday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The drinks

The bar will rotate 12 taps and small-batch, experimental libations. We tried:
  • Blanc — A Sauvignon Blanc-beer hybrid, which tasted more on the beer side.
  • Watermelon Lime Spritz — a refreshing vodka spritzer garnished with watermelon.
  • Spicy Paloma — Made with Espolon Silver tequila, grapefruit juice, and Del Maguey Vida mezcal.
Food trucks and their schedules will be announced soon.

    🦬 Getting wild

Visit the wild bison at Batelle Darby Creek Metro Park

Did you know bison — the largest mammals in North America — are roaming right here in Columbus at Batelle Darby Creek?

Wild bison haven’t roamed Ohio since 1803, and they nearly went extinct due to overhunting. However, wild bison were relocated to Batelle Darby Creek 10+ years ago through a partnership with The Wilds, an animal conservation non-profit with the Columbus Zoo.

The relocation came as an effort to restore the population of bison in Ohio. Although the bison are in the wild, they are still checked on by vets, and they receive vaccines to stay healthy.

Catch them grazing at your next visit to the 7,000-acre metro park, as they roam freely year-round in enclosed pastures. The two bison pastures can be viewed best from the Darby Creek Greenway trail. The five-mile trail intersects the bison pastures through prairies and woods.
