A new protected bike lane on Mt. Vernon Avenue spanning from Hamilton Avenue to Phillips Street could soon be a new project for the City of Columbus.

According to local reports, the city is finalizing these plans which would create a one mile, two-way traffic bike lane that would be protected from traffic. Through the construction, the city hopes to replace damaged sidewalks in the area as well as add considerations for public art and street lighting.

We also discovered the city is planning on running a request for proposal — better known as an RFP in the construction world — sometime in December of this year. A request for proposal is typically for government agencies who are looking for contractors to bid on the project.
