King Tutankhamun Exhibition at COSI

Try This: King Tutankhamun Exhibition at COSI

Presented by a CBUStoday Partner

When we heard COSI added “TUTANKHAMUN: His Tomb and Treasures,” a new exhibition focused on King Tutankhamun, we knew we had to dig in for more. So, we trekked over to the local science museum and did just that — minus the pickaxes and shovels.

What we tried:

Not only did we tour the new King Tut exhibition, but explored the rest of COSI as well — we learned how molecules interact in the Ocean exhibit, discovered fossils in the Dinosaur exhibit, and even took a tour of the solar system with the Planetarium.

Keep reading to see how the rest of the experience went and how you can Try This.*

News Notes

Development
  • The University Impact District Review Board will review plans on Thursday, April 27 for a 105-unit apartment complex with a parking garage and potential restaurant. Located near OSU’s campus, the project would require the local bar Bier Stube to be demolished. (Columbus Business First)
Pets
  • The Columbus Taco Fest Puppy Dress-up Contest will be back on Sunday, May 21 from 2-4 p.m. In addition to trying local tacos and margaritas, you can win prizes if your dog has a top costume. All proceeds go towards The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Register your pup now.
Festival
  • The Columbus Food Truck Festival, happening Saturday, Aug. 19-Sunday, Aug. 20 in Hilliard, is accepting food truck vendor applications now. Food trucks will be accepted from across the country and interested vendors can apply online.
Trending
  • Congratulations to the northeastern Ohio resident who won the Powerball jackpot and will receive a $252.6 million payout. The winner, who will not be named, purchased their ticket at a Get Go gas station in Macedonia. (614now)
Answered
  • We asked what you would recommend tourists do for a summer day in the city, and reader Ruthie said a visit to the Columbus Zoo. Reader Jess also said a visit to Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is a must. It’s not too late to send us your thoughts.
Correction
  • We made a wrong turn. Our highway guide included I-73 which is a planned interstate that cuts through Ohio near Portsmouth + ends in Toledo. The highway will use US 23 + I-75, which already exist, but it is in need of upgrades and improvements, which you can read more about here.
Drink
  • Hydration is key this time of year. Need to buy some water that will actually make you want to drink water? Meet Hint and use code 6AMCITY for over 45% off. (Hint: We love the Watermelon and Peach Raspberry flavors.)*

  • Get excited to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with our online shop (Six & Main). Cheers with this Margarita Bundle from Simple Times Mixers, and treat your taste buds with Sobremesa, a small-batch mole and salsa company.

If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll want to get your hands on this tea with a twist.

Tiger Sugar, a Taiwanese-based drink shop specializing in milk tea + boba, is opening its first Columbus location. The store is expected to open within the next two months at 878 Bethel Rd.

What drinks can guests expect? The unique menu features bases like black tea and black sugar boba with mixes like cream and cheese mousse. Options like matcha, green tea, and taro pudding are also available. Plus, all drinks are infused with hand-poured syrups that emulate the stripes of a tiger, making the drinks look just as good as they taste.
