A definitive ranking of the tallest buildings in Columbus
Do you know what the tallest building in Columbus is? | Photo via Canva
Columbus’ skyline has changed a lot over the years, and that isn’t stopping anytime soon.
From the new Hilton Downtown hotel opening to construction starting on the North Market’s Merchant Building, new builds are already shaking things up. But, how do these towers stack up to previous builds? Let’s find out.
Top five
When you fly over Columbus, these are the tallest towers you will instantly recognize:
Rhodes State Office Tower | 624 ft
LeVeque Tower | 555 ft
William Green Building | 530 ft
Huntington Center | 512 ft
Vern Riffe State Office Tower | 503 ft
The new Hilton hotel is currently No. 12 in the city at 361 ft. The Merchant Building is expected to be 330+ ft, which would place it at No. 16 on the list.

Columbus vs. the state
Cleveland and Cincinnati are home to the tallest buildings in the state, but that doesn’t mean the Capital City hasn’t been leveling up. Here’s how our buildings rank versus other Ohio cities:
The Rhodes Tower | 5th tallest in Ohio
LeVeque Tower | 7th tallest in Ohio
William Green Building | 8th tallest in Ohio
Huntington Center | 10th tallest in Ohio
Vern Riffe Tower | 11th tallest in Ohio
The Hilton Downtown would crack the top 50, specifically at No. 50, however the Merchant Building would be just outside.

Columbus vs. the world
The Rhodes Tower may stand supreme in Columbus, but it’s out-sized by some of the world’s biggest builds.
The tallest building in the world — the Burj Khalifa at 2,700+ ft — is more than four times the size of the Rhodes Tower.
You could stack the Rhodes Tower on top of itself 46 times before reaching the summit of Mt. Everest.
Marianas Trench is 35,000+ ft deep in the ocean, or in Columbus measurements, 57+ Rhodes Towers.
