Countdown to kickoff: 2023 Ohio State football season preview
The first home game is Saturday, Sept. 9 at 12 p.m. | Photo by CBUStoday
Ohio State football kicks off their season on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 3:30 p.m. with a road trip to Indiana. Before the season begins, we have a season preview for fans who go nuts for the Bucks.
The starting QB
Head coach Ryan Day announced yesterday that junior Kyle McCord will be the starting quarterback against the Hoosiers. However, he continues to share the staff’s confidence in both McCord and sophomore Devin Brown for the quarterback role. This means fans can expect to see both quarterbacks suit up on Saturday, according to Day.
The schedule
Although a handful of kickoff times and networks are still TBD, here are some schedule lock-ins you can count on:
Saturday, Sept. 30 is a bye week for the Buckeyes — take a break from cheering on the scarlet and gray for the day.
Saturday, Nov. 11 vs. Michigan State is the only scheduled evening kickoff at home at 7:30 p.m. The Bucks will wear all gray uniforms, if you want to match.

Keys to success
The Buckeyes received a No. 4 ranking in the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll, due in large part to returning talent like:
Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., who was a unanimous first team All-American selection after the 2022 season. Ahead of this season, Harrison Jr. was only one of 10 players to earn a spot on the Big Ten 2023 football preseason honors list.
Tommy Eichenberg, Emeka Egbuka, Donovan Jackson, and JT Tuimoloau, who were all named AP Preseason All Americans alongside Marvin Harrison Jr.

The owners of Sexton’s — a Dave Portnoy-approved pizza shop — and former OSU football star Braxton Miller are teaming up for a smashing new concept.
Sexton’s Burger Bar, a smash burger restaurant, is coming soon to 921 E. Johnstown Rd. The exact date has yet to be announced, but the opening is tentatively planned for October or November.
Local designer and stylist Stephen Jordan will also work alongside brothers Jamie + Joey Sexton and Braxton on the launch. The restaurant will feature a full bar, as well as menu items like plant-based and grass-fed beef burgers, soft serve ice cream, and fries.
Sexton’s told us that the restaurant is in the early stages, but pictures of what to expect will become available soon. Follow the restaurant’s Instagram page for upcoming announcements on the new spot.
