Ohio State football game day guide

Table of Contents

Saturdays in the fall are for Ohio State football. As the season opener is just five days away, we’re here to bring you a game day guide with tailgating tips, game day bars, and local apparel to cheer on our Buckeyes.

Let’s talk tailgating

For those planning to tailgate outside of Ohio Stadium, the university has provided 2022 guidelines for open container laws, tailgating spaces, tents + grills, and portable toilets. Keep in mind, snagging a spot is a first come, first serve basis and will require posting up hours before game time.

The Buckeye bar scene

If you’d rather hit the bar for a pregame party or to watch the game, Lane Avenue and High Street are the main vessels of the game day bar experience. Here are three bars that bleed scarlet and gray:

  • The Little Bar, 2195 N. High St. | In a parking lot beer garden, the game day experience features a large outdoor projector to view the game, drink specials, and a DJ.
  • Varsity Club, 278 W. Lane Ave. | Enjoy a parking lot party every game day starting at 9:30 a.m. with a live DJ taking the stage at 10:30 a.m. Try a wide variety of drink specials + stay for kick off or walk across to The Shoe if you’ve got tickets.
  • Out-R-Inn, 20 Frambes Ave. | Located off of High Street on campus, this is a great alumni game day spot with indoor and outdoor bars, pool tables, and many TVs. Pizza by the slice is also available next door at Sicilia’s.

Game day gear

  • Clothing Underground, 1652 N. High St. | Shop vintage Buckeye apparel and unique sweatshirts, t-shirts, and game day accessories.
  • HOMAGE, Multiple locations | Browse high quality Ohio State t-shirts, sweatshirts, and gear.
