We have one question, CBUS — who is the greatest rock, paper, scissors player in the city?

This dire question needs to be answered and Seventh Son Brewing Co. is here to settle the debate on Sun., Feb. 20 with its unauthorized, non-sanctioned, international rock, paper, scissors tournament at the taproom on 1101 N. 4th St. The freshly announced event has been dubbed ROSHAMBO 2022 + we’re giving out the details on shoot.

What can I expect?

The day begins with registration at 2 p.m. followed by an opening ceremony at 3 p.m. From there, an official bracket will be created to track wins and losses + referees will be on hand to make sure there aren’t any cheaters. Columbus comedian Travis Hoeswischer, deemed the “unofficial mayor of Columbus,” will host the event.

Registration is $10 per person and 100% of proceeds go towards SERVICE! Relief Organization — a Columbus-based group created out of the pandemic that advocates for the service industry. With a max of 64 players, Sarah Rose, of Seventh Son, expects this to be an all day event. Participants must be 21+ years old to compete, but fans of all ages are welcome.

Are there prizes?

Yes — and it’s not just bragging rights. Seventh Son along with Watershed Distillery + Rambling House Soda will have prizes for winners and audience members throughout the day and there will be special prizes for the following categories:

  • Best costume
  • Best group costume
  • Best cheer sign

At the end of the competition, there will be an awards ceremony (complete with gold, silver and bronze medals + possibly a podium) and a closing ceremony.
