From amphibian searches to trail running to scavenger hunts, there’s plenty of outdoor fun to be had at local metro parks this month.

Spring is on the horizon, which makes for the perfect time to get out and explore a local park.

Luckily, Columbus & Franklin County Metro Parks is making that easy with a full calendar of upcoming fun — and it’s all free.

So, grab your hiking shoes and get ready for some outdoor community events in March:

Thursday, March 7

  • Glow Archery, Blacklick Woods Golf Course: Try indoor, glow-in-the-dark archery for ages 8+.

Saturday, March 9

  • Eagle Hike, 100 Acre Wood: Hike for less than a mile while searching for eagles in their nests.
  • Edible Native Plants, Inniswood Metro Gardens: Learn about harvesting techniques for a variety of edible plants.

Sunday, March 10

  • Amphibian Search, Rocky Fork: Search for amphibians on this 1.5-mile hike.
  • Sunset Hike, Blacklick Woods: Take your leashed pups along for a two-mile hike as the sun goes down.
