Temperatures are dropping, but it’s still cozy on Lumin Sky Bar’s rooftop patio thanks to dining igloos.

The kitchen and bar, which is on the top floor of the AC Hotel Columbus Downtown, will offer two different igloos for dining staring on Monday, Nov. 20. We got a sneak peek this week before they officially open, so here are our cold hard facts about the experience.

Big date night energy

These igloos are surprisingly spacious and can hold up to eight people. We recommend getting a group together for an upscale night out on the town. These will book up fast, so we recommend making a reservation ASAP.

There are two experiences to choose from: The Ice Igloo and the Fire Igloo. Both offer the same menu, but each are decorated to their specific element. We loved the winter wonderland feeling of the Ice Igloo, and the Fire Igloo glows red for the perfect moody lighting.

Make a plate

With a wide variety of appetizers and tapas, we recommend snacking your way through the menu. This could mean passing around various dips, like harrisa buffalo chicken dip, butternut squash hummus with cranberries, or spinach dip with fried pita.

Plus, plenty of shareable seafood options hit the tapas menu, including fresh fried calamari and ahi ahi nachos with house-made wontons.

Grab a drink (or two)

The igloos are booked in two-hour time blocks, so make the most of it with a bottle of wine. There are plenty of options, both red and white, for less than $60.

On the other hand, the menu also features craft cocktails that are hard to pass. We started with the Buffalo Trace old fashioned and ended with the Merry Margarita (‘tis the season).
