OH-,the places you’ll go
How the Columbus’ highway system extends across the country
What highway do you find yourself using most often? | Photo via Canva
They say all roads lead back to Ohio, and we’re here to prove it true.
Did you know Columbus is within 10 hours of 45% of the US population thanks to its central location? That had us thinking: what’s the furthest you can drive on a highway in Columbus? And today, we’re inviting you to ride with us as we cruise through the numbers.
🛣 North + South
US 23 | Spanning 1,400+ miles, you can head north to Mackinaw, MI, or south to Jacksonville, FL.
US 33 | Take this down to Athens, OH and Richmond, VA, or make your way to northern Indiana.
US 62 | This highway doglegs its way through the state with exit points in Pennsylvania + Kentucky.
I-71 | With end points in Cleveland + Louisville, KY, you’ll hit all three major Ohio cities on a 340+ mile interstate.
I-73 | Though this interstate features many changes, it will take you to Michigan’s upper peninsula, or down to South Carolina.

🛣 East + West
US 40 | Go west to Denver, CO, or east to Baltimore, MD on this highway that goes through 12 states.
I-70 | This 225+ mile interstate cuts directly through CBUS + all the way to Indianapolis, IN and Pittsburgh, PA.
I-270 | Whenever you hear “the outerbelt” in Columbus, this is what people are referring to. It circles Columbus + hits many popular suburbs like Dublin and Gahanna.
I-670 | Think of this like a connector to other highways like I-70 + I-270, as it is a bridge between downtown, Grandview, and Gahanna.
Speaking of hitting the highway, check out our guide to Delaware which is only 30 minutes away if you take I-71.

Development
A 15-story building could be in the works for the Short North after the Victorian Village Commission approved a proposal. The local developers said this project could be a couple years away as they make changes to the plan, such as recent alterations like focusing more on residential space. (Columbus Underground)

Not all restaurants are built the same — just ask Karen’s Diner. This restaurant is best known for being rude + aloof towards customers, and it’s coming to Columbus on Saturday, Sept. 23-Sunday Sept. 24. The pop-up will be downtown, and remember: it’s all in good fun. (The Columbus Dispatch)

Holiday
Mañana es el Día de la Tierra, una fecha que se remonta a 1970 como iniciativa de un senador estadounidense que fue testigo de un vertido de petróleo. En la actualidad, este día une a 1000 millones de personas en 193 países. Translate this news with Babbel (currently offering 55% off lessons) in The Wrap at the bottom of our newsletter.*
Shop
We’re firm believers in spoiling the ones we love — especially our pets. That’s why we’re adding these two things to our shopping carts: this customizable velvet collar and this durable bed that features a removable slipcover. Don’t forget the treats. We love these soft chews for doggos and these freeze dried snacks for cats.
Celebrate Earth Day by supporting some of our Six & Main brands. Rainier Watch, a business inspired by mountains, gives a portion of its sales to organizations that protect National Parks, and Plant Based Candles allows customers to reuse the vessel as a planter with wildflower seeds included in each order.
