After its November opening, Quarry Trails Metro Park is officially the newest metro park in Columbus with an abundance of great offerings.

The park currently has a new project in the works to elevate visitors’ hiking experience with a new rock climbing and rappelling area.

Who’s creating the wall?

Colorado-based Via Ferrata Works + Columbus’ very own Burgess & Niple will be creating the wall after being awarded a $250,000 contract from The Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks board of commissioners. Construction on the wall is expected to be finished later this year.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • A cliff face that is a half a mile wide and 160 ft tall
  • Climbers will clip in with rings and cables for safety
  • Instead of climbing vertically, the wall will be built for climbers to move horizontally across it

Current offerings at Quarry Trails Metro Park

Open from 6:30 a.m.-dark at 2600 Dublin Rd., the park currently features the following:

  • A scenic 25 ft waterfall and other bodies of water (you can access the waterfall separately at 2158 Old Dublin Rd.)
  • A variety of trails including a mountain bike trail
  • Observation areas

While you’re waiting on the wall to be finished, be sure to check out the current 35 ft climbing wall at Scioto Audubon Metro Park.
