Thankful for CBUS

10 Columbus things we are thankful for this Thanksgiving

There sure is a lot to love about our city, and that’s why we are giving you our top 10 things we are thankful for in CBUS.

10.) Patios and rooftop bars

If it’s an outdoor area we can sip drinks in, we are there. That’s why we stopped at The Brass Eye, Jackie O’s on Fourth, and Columbus Brewing Company’s Beer Hall when they each announced openings this year.

9.) Public art

Whether it’s our local talent or new national treasures, Columbus is always a work of art.

8.) Outdoor movies

We are already looking forward to next year’s NightLight 614, with a blanket in one hand and a lawn chair in the other.

7.) Saturday mornings

There isn’t a wrong way to spend your weekend mornings, but there is a right way. Luckily, we’ve got that right here.

6.) Local coffee

Sometimes we feel like sitting down at Parable, other times we feel like grabbing a cold brew on-the-go. Regardless — our caffeine is nearly always locally brewed.

5.) Breweries

We can’t get enough of the craft beers that are being concocted all around CBUS. It’s impossible to name just one, so we rely on Experience Columbus to name them all.

4.) Columbus sports

From cheering on the Buckeyes, to keeping up with our professional sports teams — we’re thankful for the chance to get loud at local games.

3.) The outdoors

Columbus is home to many scenic parks and trails to hike and enjoy nature.

2.) The restaurants

The restaurant scene is always booming, and we’re especially fans of happy hours and Cameron Mitchell Restaurants spots.

We’ve all been there: Someone’s trying to give you directions by describing 10 lefts, 20 rights, and a jumble of cardinal directions. Isn’t it easier to just point out a landmark?

That’s exactly what we’re doing. We have 13 of the most recognizable Columbus landmarks — from the Wonder Bread sign to the downtown bridges. Not only are these local icons easy to remember, but they’ll also get you where you need to go in a jiffy.

If you have lived in Columbus for 50+ years, this area looks much different nowadays. While it now houses restaurants and pharmacies, this used to be the premiere department store downtown, offering both jobs for those in the area + a one-stop-shop for local families. Shoot us an email if you still remember the eye-grabbing holiday displays.
