If you’re looking to give the gift of an experience this holiday season, we’ve got you covered. Check out these Columbus activities and events that are sure to unwrap some excitement.

Candle making

Do you know what’s better than gifting a candle? Giving someone a gift card to Penn & Beech so they can custom make their own candle. There are locations in the Short North, Worthington, and Grandview. We checked it out for ourselves — here’s how it works.

DIY crafting

Make a reservation for you and a friend at Makers Social in Franklinton to create a project ranging from jewelry to home decor. Watch our experience at the craft bar to see how the process works.

Concerts

Whether your loved ones love Nicki Minaj or Tim McGraw, there’s an upcoming concert to choose from — so you can treat them to a ticket. Pro tip: Keep checking back as we update our concert list with new announcements.

Spa day

Nothing says “I’m thinking of you” like a spa day. Spoil someone special with a massage or facial at the following spots:

City Editor Hanna had her fair share of local Google searches this year. | Photo by CBUStoday
Google released its Local Year in Search 2023, so we reviewed what the people of Columbus were searching most on Google this year. Let’s break it down.

Do we have some Swifies in CBUS? “The Eras Tour” was the top tour search in the area. It was followed by “It’s All a Blur Tour,” which Drake canceled twice in 2023. Don’t worry, he’s coming to the Schottenstein Center for two shows on February 20 + February 21, 2024.

Were we scouting some competition for the Crew? CBUS was the only place in the country with Cincinnati vs. Inter Miami as a top trending search.

The top “near me” search was “air quality near me” — it was a hazy summer.

Columbusites were also looking for “pedicures near me” — if this was you, browse our guide to spending a self-care day in the city.

From the editor
It’s hard to believe Christmas is just one week away. I’ve had the best time exploring holiday lights around the city, from the Columbus Commons to the Conservatory to Easton. Any last-minute stops I should make? Let me know.
