It’s just Friday for the rest of the world. But in Columbus, it’s a local holiday.
Happy 614 Day. Today — Friday, June 14 — is a celebration of all things local in honor of our area code. It’s no secret that we love our city, and we wanted to share how that love came to be. Plus, we’ll connect you to the best citywide party for the special occasion.

I fell in love with Columbus the minute I moved here in 2014. I was just 19-years-old and living in my first-ever apartment at University Village while I attended The Ohio State University. And since then, the city has went through many forms for me.
At first, Columbus was like a playground with fun nightlife, big name restaurants, and popular retailers. And over time, those have been replaced with coffee roasters, hyperlocal eateries, and vintage vendors at pop-ups. Now, Columbus is simply home — somewhere to play, just as much as somewhere to work and live.

I said goodbye to my hometown of Bowling Green and moved to Columbus in 2014 to begin my freshman year at Ohio State. As a former Michigan fan (I know, I’m sorry) I instantly became a die hard Buckeye after my first game day experience in Ohio Stadium.
I quickly fell in love with more than just the sports teams — the diversity of festivals, concerts, nightlife, and top-notch restaurants are some of my favorite things about the city. So many of my dreams have come true in Columbus, as it’s a hub for growth and opportunity.
